What makes the Waverly Karate Club Special?
Since 1972 the Waverly Karate Club has been serving Waverly and surrounding communities. In 1993 Master Glenn Engel (then a Cho Dan = 1st degree black belt) became the owner of the independent studio and shortly thereafter joined the World Tang Soo Doo Association. In 2015 Master John Jensen took over operations when Master Engel moved. As a member of the WTSDA Region 3 they continue sharing the traditional Korean style of martial arts known as Tang Soo Do with many hundreds of students.
We train for self improvement and self defense, not competition, although we do participate in many tournaments. Hyung (forms), weapons, meditation, kyuck-pa (breaking), self-defense, falls, kicks, blocks, and punches are just some of what we work on. Tang Soo Do is for the young and old alike - it is a great life-long sport that can be taken up at any age.
